WHS Interact Collecting Items for "Teens for Jeans"
Washougal High School's Interact Club is organizing "Teens for Jeans". Please consider dropping off an old pair of jeans in the boxes around the school until February 12, and you can get 25 percent off your next pair at Aeropostale.
Running Start Information Session for Fall 2012 Admission 1/26/2012 7 pm
Sophomores and Juniors who are interested in fall 2012 entry into Running Start and applying for the first time: Clark College is hosting another Running Start Information Night on Thursday, Jan 26, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the O’Connell Sports Complex on Clark’s campus. If you are interested in Running Start, please attend this session.
WHS Student James Maguire wins VFW Voice of Democracy Award for Essay
Congratulations to James Maguire from Washougal High School, who won the District 6 award from the Camas/Washougal Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary. James wrote and submitted an essay in the VFW's Voice of Democracy contest last fall. James was presented an award during a ceremony on January 6th at the Camas Community Center by local VFW members.
WHS Equestrian Team to Compete at Clark County Fairgrounds 1/26 - 1/29/2012
Your Washougal High School Equestrian Team invites you to their first District Meet to be held locally!
It is at the Clark County Fairgrounds on January 26-29, 2012.
The Washougal High School Equestrian Team has been kickin’ up dust at competitions for the past six years, but never this close to home! Please come cheer us on!
Below is the Meet schedule. NOTE: events run faster and slower than scheduled so times are constantly changing. Please call Teresa Stedman, WHS E-Team Parent Advisor, to check on times. (971) 563-3762. Call too if you have questions about the events and best times to watch.
An Equestrian Meet is structured much like a track meet. Riders compete individually against riders from six schools. There is a lot to see. Be sure to dress warmly!

WHS Jazz Band Concert Tonight at 7 PM
The Washougal High School Jazz Bands would like to invite you to their winter concert TONIGHT, at 7pm in the Washburn Performing Arts Center (WHS). Cost of admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students/seniors, and free with a Season Arts Pass. The bands have been preparing for the upcoming Clark College Jazz Festival, and they would love to show off their hard work to you! Hope to see you there!
Also, the bands will be competing at Clark on Friday, the 27th at 9:00 (Jazz II) and 2:20 (Jazz I). The performances will be held in Gaiser Hall.

Rotary Scholar of the Month for January: Felicia Ray Harrison
Felicia Ray Harrison was selected as the Camas Washougal Rotary Scholar of the Month for January 2012. Felicia is a sophomore at Washougal High School, and has a 3.758 GPA. WHS Honors Chemistry teacher Bruce Stanton says “Felicia is a hard worker and a very nice person. Her English teacher Sheila Good says she has “vast potential,” and that “her strength is definitely community service and community involvement.” Social Studies teacher Jim Reed notes that “Felicia is such a kind hearted student” and that she “represents the school in a professional and prideful manner” as part of the Equestrian Team. Principal Aaron Hansen describes Felicia as “always smiling and positive!” Felicia is the daughter of Scott and Tammy Harrison. Congratulations Felicia Ray Harrison!

Free Dental Care for youth, at Clark College Dental Clinic 2/4/2012
Feb. 4, 2012 is “Children’s Dental Health Day”. Location: Clark College Dental
Hygiene Clinic at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. Appointments are necessary and
can be scheduled by calling: 360.397.8020, 397.8010 or 397.8000 ext. 7371.
Only children ages 2-19 with NO dental insurance will qualify. Services provided
are: X-rays, sealants, fluoride treatment, fillings and extractions. There will be no
cleanings provided. Clark County Dental Society, Clark College, Clark County
Public Health, Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, Greater Southwest
Washington Dental Hygiene Association, Ronald McDonald House Charities and
Washington Oral Health Foundation are donating services.
